E-REDES, supplier and CPE
E-REDES handles the distribution network, technical faults and meters; the supplier handles your contract and bills. The CPE identifies the delivery point.
Contracting and switching
Identity, NIF, occupancy evidence, CPE and payment details may be requested. ERSE states that switching is free, should not interrupt supply and must be completed within three weeks. An existing loyalty term may still create an exit charge.
Contracted power and time tariffs
Contracted power affects simultaneous appliance capacity and the fixed charge. Use ERSE’s power simulator. Compare single, dual and triple time tariffs against your actual usage.
Bills, readings and outages
Separate energy, power, network and tax items. Submit readings when remote readings are unavailable. Contact the network operator for a network fault and the supplier for billing issues.
Social tariff and deposits
Check current social-tariff conditions with ERSE. A security deposit is not an automatic condition for every new low-voltage household contract.

At handover
Record the exact flat address, CPE and meter serial number together. Photograph the display on handover day and confirm the supply-point code without circulating the previous occupier’s personal details. A working light does not mean the contract is in your name. Opening a contract at an existing connection, switching suppliers and connecting a previously unconnected home are different tasks.
Compare equivalent offers
Do not compare only the price per kWh. Include the daily power charge, consumption, tax, optional services, promotion end date and any exit conditions. Before choosing a time-of-use tariff, note when you actually run washing, water heating and other high-load equipment. Apply the same consumption assumptions to each offer; a projected saving is not a guaranteed result.
Check the first bill
Verify name, NIF, CPE, start date, contracted power and whether readings are actual or estimated. Check that the billed period does not include the previous tenant’s usage. If the reading differs, attach dated meter and bill images to a written query and keep its reference. For outages, establish whether neighbours are affected: an internal electrical fault and a network fault need different responses.
- Save the handover date and opening reading.
- Choose power for your simultaneous appliance use.
- Separate optional insurance or maintenance from energy.
- Compare the contract summary with the first bill.
- Request a closing reading and final account when leaving.
