FAVA, Portugal's Largest Vegan Gathering, Will Be in Loulé Again in September

There is good news for those who will be traveling to the Algarve in September or those living in the region. FAVA (Algarve Environment and Vegan Fair), the country's most comprehensive environmental and vegan event, opens its doors at Loulé Municipal Park for the seventh time between 18-20 September. Moreover, entrance to the area and all activities inside are completely free.

This year, more than 100 participants will take part in the festival, which spreads over a huge green area of ​​14 thousand square meters. It's not just food; Many areas of life come together, from sustainable agriculture to clothing, from books to handicrafts.

From Vegan Francesinha to Plant-Based Street Food

The kitchen side of the business is very active as always. More than 30 food and beverage stands to be set up in the area will have a rich menu, from the completely plant-based version of the famous Francesinha, one of the heavyweights of Portuguese cuisine, to burgers, pizzas, pastries and ice creams. Last year, more than 4 thousand plates were served, this year the target figure is around 5 thousand.

Notable names will also take the stage in the kitchen workshops. Names such as Victoria Ye, known for her adaptations of Asian cuisine, Desafio Vegetariano PT team and nutritionist Inês Lapa will share their tips with live cooking sessions.

More than 100 Free Activities and a Living Park

Live music, theatre, poetry and dance performances will be performed throughout the day on small stages that will be set up in different corners of the park. Yoga, pilates, Tai Chi and capoeira sessions are planned for those who want to add movement to the day. There is also a separate area for children, full of traditional street games, chess and creative workshops.

"Don't Throw, Repair and Trade" Culture

The best thing that distinguishes FAVA from an ordinary food festival is its sincere approach to the environment. While clothes, books and accessories change hands at the barter market to be held in the festival area; In the "Repair Cafe" corner, you can learn to repair broken or worn items with the help of volunteers.

No single-use plastic cups or bottles are used in the area, tableware is chosen entirely from compostable materials, and there are free water filling points. It would be a good idea to bring your own water bottle or reusable cup with you when you go.
