A little boy who was left in a nursery van in Almada died.

An 18-month-old girl died after being left inside a nursery van in Almada, south of Lisbon, in what police described as a tragic act of neglect. The boy was found unconscious inside a vehicle on Avenida do Cristo Rei in Almada on Thursday afternoon (July 23). According to PSP police, emergency services received a report of a child having a heart attack at 15:53. According to SIC Notícias, the girl was taken from her home in the morning with the nursery's shuttle vehicle, but was forgotten in the vehicle for several hours. It is stated that the minibus was not used again during the day, meaning that the child remained inside until he was found. Firefighters from Cacilhas, INEM emergency medical team (VMER) and PSP officers were dispatched to the scene. When emergency crews arrived at the scene, the vehicle's window had already been broken in an attempt to reach the child. Rescuers immediately began advanced life support and heart massage, but they were unable to save the child. INEM later confirmed that despite extensive resuscitation efforts, the child died at the scene. CNN Portugal, citing PSP, confirmed that the victim was an 18-month-old girl and stated that the incident was being treated as an incident related to suspicion of a child being accidentally left inside a school bus. Police (PJ) have taken over the investigation and will determine the circumstances leading to the child's death.
