Woman who allegedly pointed a gun at restaurant staff was arrested

An incredible event took place in the quiet, sea-scented Parque das Nações area of Lisbon. As you know, the Rua da Pimenta side becomes lively in the evenings, people walk along the promenade, and the venues slowly prepare for the evening service. At just such a moment, towards the end of June, on the evening of June 20, a truly astonishing fight broke out. A group of six people, including two children, comes to a restaurant that has not yet opened its doors to customers. When the owner of the venue rightly says that they are not open yet and they cannot sit on the terrace, all hell breaks loose. Tables and chairs start flying in the air. The situation gets completely out of control when restaurant employees rush to help their boss. The scariest part of the matter happens right at this moment: A 36-year-old woman in the group takes a gun from her bag and points it directly at the restaurant employees. This madness happening in front of children's eyes is truly bloodcurdling. Week-long Pursuit and Arrest Following the incident, the Public Security Police (PSP) took immediate action. In the first days, only the victim restaurant employee's statement could be taken, but detectives did not give up on the matter. Through security cameras and images, everyone involved in the incident was identified one by one. On Thursday, July 30, police teams raided the suspects' addresses. That woman was detained in the search carried out under the coordination of the Lisbon Investigation and Prosecution Office (DIAP). An air rifle was seized during the searches at the house, but according to Lisbon Criminal Investigation Department Chief Tiago Ramos' statement to journalists, the real gun seen in the videos on the night of the incident has not yet been found. The gun turned up in the search was a much larger, air-conditioned carbine. So they hid the real gun used in the incident somewhere. The Judge Made His Decision: He Was Sent to Prison According to the police chief, the arrested woman had no record of being involved in such violent incidents before. However, it turned out that his relatives had a long criminal file. Other people involved in the fight were officially made defendants and a judicial control requirement was imposed. The woman was taken to court. The judge took no risks and decided to detain the woman in detention by applying the most severe measure possible due to the crimes of illegal weapon possession, serious threat and coercion. He is currently in prison waiting for the day he will be tried. It is truly very sad and troubling that in the streets of Lisbon, which we know to be peaceful, people can turn their heads and draw guns because of an argument over a chair. We hope that such events will not happen again along the beautiful Kordon. Source: JN Photo Source: JN
