A 27-year-old man was detained on suspicion of setting fire to an apartment in Queluz

Polícia Judiciária (PJ) detained a 27-year-old man in connection with a fire in an apartment in the Queluz district of Sintra.

According to police investigation, the fire was started using direct flame inside the residence. In the incident, while the items in one room of the house were completely burned, serious material damage occurred in other parts of the house.

It is considered that the fire was started intentionally

The findings obtained in the investigation carried out by Polícia Judiciária strengthened the suspicion that the fire was not started accidentally but deliberately.

According to the information provided by PJ, the flames started with the use of direct fire inside the house.

The fire caused great damage, especially in one room. While the items in the room were completely burned, the smoke and flames also affected other parts of the house.

27-year-old suspect detained

Following the investigation, Polícia Judiciária identified and detained a 27-year-old man who was considered to be linked to the fire.

It is expected that the suspect will be brought before the judicial authorities and the protective measures to be taken against him will be determined.

While the investigation continues, final criminal liability for the incident will be determined in the court process.

While the fire caused significant damage inside the house, there is no report of loss of life or injury in the available information.
