Who it is for and key distinction
Third-country nationals seeking entry to find highly qualified employment and meeting the relevant technical-expertise conditions. Older descriptions of a general job-seeker visa open to all occupations are no longer current.
Financial conditions
The law links subsistence, return and extension conditions to implementing rules. Do not automatically carry older “three minimum wages” claims into the 2026 qualified route; a precise figure should follow the current MNE checklist and implementing rules.
Category-specific evidence
- Degree/experience proving technical expertise for highly qualified work
- Professional recognition or regulated-profession authorisation where applicable
- Current IEFP/MNE preregistration or declaration requirements
- Subsistence, accommodation, insurance and return arrangements
- Qualifying contract and AIMA evidence after employment is found
Common document categories
Prepare the category-specific evidence above alongside your jurisdiction’s general checklist. Common passport, criminal-record, accommodation and certification requirements are explained in the visa overview; use the competent consulate’s current checklist on the application date.
Process from application to residence card
The applicant first checks current acceptance in their application jurisdiction. An intermediary selling a package does not establish that the route is open; qualification evidence and a general CV are organised separately.
AIMA and residence permit
A national visa is not the residence card. After entry, follow the visa/appointment information and present AIMA with an updated passport, visa, address, purpose/activity evidence and required registrations. Fees changed on 1 March 2026; use AIMA’s current table for the procedure and channel.
Although the legal framework retains a 120-day visa and one possible 60-day extension, operation depends on rules defining specialised technical skills. Do not plan a filing until an active official checklist is available.
