Process from application to residence card
A software engineer prepares the technical duties, relevant qualifications and contract together. An English-language title or apparently high pay does not by itself determine the correct legal sub-route.
AIMA and residence permit
A national visa is not the residence card. After entry, follow the visa/appointment information and present AIMA with an updated passport, visa, address, purpose/activity evidence and required registrations. Fees changed on 1 March 2026; use AIMA’s current table for the procedure and channel.
Gov.pt publishes a 30-day period and no consular fee for the highly qualified/research residence visa. Confirm how this applies to the filing country, provider and exact subcategory before appointment.
