Power Goes Out on Sunday: Planned Outage Alert in Portugal

Let's start with a critical reminder for those who plan to wake up to a quiet Sunday morning over the weekend. Electricity distribution company E-REDES is making planned power outages in many parts of the country on Sunday, August 23, due to network renewal and maintenance works.

The outages extend from Lisbon to the Alentejo and south to the Algarve; In some places it will take up to 6 hours.

Lisbon and Surroundings Are Affected in the Morning Hours

One of the longest outages in the capital will be experienced on the Arroios side. Electricity will be stopped in the area between 05:00 and 11:00 on Sunday morning.

When we look a little further north, towards Mafra, we see a wide 6-hour working period in various neighborhoods, from 06:00 in the morning to 12:00 in the afternoon.

Blackout Schedule in Alentejo and Algarve

The situation is not much different in the southern parts. In the Alentejo region, Odemira (São Salvador, Santa Maria and Longueira/Almograve lines) will be without power between 07:00 and 11:00 in the morning. Similarly, work will be carried out between 06:00 - 11:00 in the morning in Elvas (São Brás and São Lourenço) and between 07:00 - 11:00 in Mora district.

On the Algarve side, the switches will come down between 07:00 and 11:00 in the morning on the Vila do Bispo and Raposeira line. Monte Figueira Velha, Rua Vale Matias Fernandes, Sítio Alamedas, Sítio das Eiras, Vale Marmeleiro and the Industrial Zone are among the streets directly affected by the outage. Local authorities warn that in case of a possible disruption, the work may be delayed until 15:00.
