Luís Neves admitted mistakes in Parliament, but questions remain in disputed files

During the nearly five-hour parliamentary session, Portuguese Interior Minister Luís Neves admitted some errors regarding income and asset declarations, a seized trailer during the Polícia Judiciária period and work done on his home in Odemira. The second controversial topic concerns the expulsion of a trailer seized by the Polícia Judiciária.

Neves explained that PJ had a serious lack of space to store the confiscated materials and that he was informed that there was no suitable storage space.

However, the trailer is free of soot. He agreed that an official record should be created during the removal.

Odemira's home works are at the center of controversy

One of Neves' most notable admissions concerned work done on his home in Odemira.

The Minister said that it was not right for the owner of the Construbarcelos company, which had contracts with PJ, to allow him to participate in the renovation work on his house.

However, he denied any claim of quid pro quo, privilege or personal interest.

According to ECO, Neves opposed the allegations of a privileged commercial relationship with the company, stating that the company in question accounted for approximately 4 percent of PJ contracts in the relevant period. ECO

The source of construction materials is also discussed

Another issue that MPs focused on was the source of some railway sleepers used in the works in Odemira.

Neves said the material was given to him by an employee.

However, questions in Parliament focused on the procedure by which the materials left Infraestruturas de Portugal and who authorized it.
