He was caught during vehicle theft in Lisbon: PSP intervened while he was heading towards the third vehicle

A person was detained by the PSP on suspicion of stealing from parked vehicles in the Arroios district of Lisbon.

According to the initial information provided by the police, the suspect encountered police intervention when he turned to another vehicle after targeting two vehicles in a row.

The incident brought to the agenda once again the risk of theft caused by leaving items in vehicles parked in the center of Lisbon, especially at night.

How does vehicle theft occur?

In incidents classified by the Portuguese police as "furto no interior de veículo", the target is often not the vehicle itself, but the items left visible inside.

Bags, computers, phones, money, shopping bags or electronic devices can be taken by breaking the vehicle window or forcing the door.

Although such incidents may seem like isolated small-amount thefts, they occur in places where tourists and residents are concentrated. When repeated serially in neighborhoods, it creates serious material damage and a perception of security.
