New Navegante is coming to Lisbon for tourists: 1 day 15 euros, 5 days 37.50 euros

The Lisboa Metropolitan Area has approved new Navegante tickets that will make it easier for tourists and visitors attending major events to use public transport.

In the system unanimously accepted by Conselho Metropolitano de Lisboa, which brings together 18 municipalities, 1, 3 and 5-day Navegante options will be created for tourists.

However, there is an important detail: The start date of ticket sales has not been announced yet.

How much will the prices be?

According to the approved tariff:

Navegante 1 slide — 15 euro

Navegante 3 dias — 27 euros

Navegante 5 dias — 37.50 euros

Additionally, a separate Navegante Eventos product will be created for large events.

The price of this ticket will vary depending on the duration of the event.

It does not only include the city of Lisbon

This is one of the most important points when evaluating new tickets.

Área Metropolitana de Lisboa is not just the municipality of Lisboa.

The metropolitan structure consists of 18 municipalities.

Therefore, the logic of the new product is to facilitate the transportation of tourists from the center of Lisboa to other points of the metropolitan region.

This can be particularly important for visitors heading towards Sintra, Cascais and Setúbal.

A different product from existing 24-hour tickets

Lisbon currently has short-term transportation options such as Carris/Metro or Carris/Metro/CP combinations.

The new Navegante Turístico is on a metropolitan scale and aims for a few days' use. It is designed as a different product.

Therefore, which option is cheaper for tourists will vary depending on the travel route.

The needs of a visitor who only uses the metro and Carris in Lisboa center are not the same as those who will go to Sintra, Cascais or other municipalities.

Not yet available for purchase

The fact that the decision has been approved does not mean that tickets can be purchased from the box office today.

Área Metropolitana de Lisboa states that the sales start date will be announced later.

Therefore, visitors coming to Portugal should not accept the new tariff as definitively usable when preparing their travel budget.
