Help from Portugal..128 firefighters for the fire in Spain!!

Of course, Portugal could not sit with its hands on its bosom while Spain was struggling with fires. Those devastating fires that ravaged Madrid, Ávila and the surrounding areas are truly heartbreaking. Spain has already declared a national emergency, thousands of people have had to flee their homes. Just last week, at least 13 people lost their lives in the fire in Almería, and today, unfortunately, another sad news of loss came from Valência. The country has officially surrendered to the flames. Portugal did not remain indifferent to its neighbor's desperation and immediately set out the Joint Operation Force (FOCON). Our team of 128 people set off from Guarda at around 15:00 in the afternoon. The squad includes Civil Protection officials (ANEPC), experienced firefighters from Beiras and Serra da Estrela, and GNR's emergency response team, UEPS. The Army even provided serious logistical support to the team by providing war supplies for 500 people from its reserve warehouses. The team is led by David Lobato, the experienced commander of the Médio Tejo region. Civil protection protocols between the two countries do not remain on paper but save lives on the ground in such disasters. As ANEPC stated, due to extreme heat and adverse weather conditions, the fires were out of control and urgent reinforcements were required in the region. Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez also said in a statement near Madrid that they hope the weather will allow a little over the weekend and that they have a critical "window of opportunity" to bring the fire under control. Sánchez established a single emergency command center to cover Madrid and Ávila. Together with the teams from Portugal, Italy and Greece, we will fight against this disaster as a single body.
