Red Flag Period in San Sebastián

The incidents specifically targeted the coast of Gipuzkoa state and the popular city of San Sebastián. Last Tuesday alone, lifeguards had to respond to 120 incidents along the beach. Fortunately, most of the cases were mild, but the situation was a little more dangerous in the first days of the week. A swimmer in Getaria was hospitalized due to multiple stings, while a woman in Zarautz became an ambulance. The situation was not much different at points such as Zurriola, Mutriku and Zumaia; The teams were on alert on the beach.

As such, access to the water was temporarily stopped at the city's most iconic beaches such as La Concha, Ondarreta and Zurriola. Authorities are monitoring the situation in the region instantly; Depending on the wind and wave conditions, the prohibitions are relaxed as security is ensured.

What is the reason for this invasion?
