Fighting Flames in Guarda: Air Support Mobilized for Fire in Vila Ruiva

Again heart-breaking fire news came on the Guarda side. The forest fire, which started around Vila Ruiva, north of Fornos de Algodres, at around 13.40 today, grew in a short time.

As of 17.00, the information coming from the field reveals the extent of the struggle. With the influence of the wind, the flames are shifting towards Celorico da Beira, making the work of the teams very difficult. Mayor of Fornos de Algodres, Alexandre Lote, confirmed this difficult situation on the field in his statement.

The only pleasing detail for now is that the flames remain at the border of the bush and forest area around Vila Ruiva and Vila Soeiro do Chão; It has not yet spread to residential areas. All efforts are to control the fire before it spreads further and threatens homes.
