Formula 1 returns to Portugal: Portimão race on 18–20 June 2027

The return date of Formula 1 to Portugal has been officially announced. According to the 2027 Formula 1 World Championship calendar, the Grande Prémio de Portugal will be held at Autódromo Internacional do Algarve on 18–20 June 2027.

Portimão will thus host Formula 1 cars again at an official Grand Prix weekend for the first time after 2021.

Portugal's agreement with Formula 1 covers the 2027 and 2028 seasons.

Autódromo Internacional do Algarve entered the Formula 1 calendar for the first time during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Portuguese Grand Prix was held in Portimão in the 2020 and 2021 seasons.

With the new agreement, the track returns to the world championship after a six-year break.

According to the program announced by Formula 1, Portugal will be on the calendar for at least two seasons, in 2027 and 2028.

Portimão started transportation and parking preparations

The race will be a major event not only in terms of the track but also in terms of the Algarve's transportation and tourism infrastructure.

Portimao The municipality is already working on direct public transport to the track, additional parking capacity and improving road connections in the surrounding area.

Due to the pandemic, spectator and organizational conditions in the 2020 and 2021 races were different from a normal Formula 1 weekend.

The 2027 race will therefore be one of the first major periods when the Algarve will host Formula 1 tourism at full capacity.

Autódromo Internacional do Algarve has opened its official event page for the race.
