easyJet workers go on 10-day strike in Portugal: Flights to Lisboa, Porto and Faro may be affected

Two separate strike periods have been announced for passengers traveling with easyJet in Portugal. The airline's cabin crews decided to go on strike for a total of 10 days between 2-6 October and 19-23 December 2026.

The first strike period could affect hundreds of flights from Lisboa, Porto and Faro airports.

According to the estimate of the Sindicato Nacional do Pessoal de Voo da Aviação Civil (SNPVAC), approximately 500 scheduled flights could be affected by the strike during the period 2–6 October alone.

However, it should be noted that this figure is not the exact number of cancellations. The minimum services to be implemented during the strike have yet to be determined.

Second strike coincides with Christmas travel period

The second strike will be held on 19, 20, 21, 22 and 23 December.

Since this period coincides with the busy travel days before Christmas, it is especially important for passengers who will travel from Portugal to other countries or return to the country for Christmas.

The first strike in October covers the long weekend due to the 5 October Republic Day falling on a Monday.

Why is the union going on strike?

According to SNPVAC's statement, the strike decision was taken after employees could not resolve disputes regarding their work and wage conditions.

Union; Frequent changes in work schedules, problems alleged to be experienced in the implementation of the collective bargaining agreement, differences in practices for cabin crews and pilots, It brings up topics such as operation planning and overtime pressure due to personnel shortage.

These are the union's allegations against easyJet and are part of an employment dispute between the parties.

What should passengers with tickets do?

At this stage, it is not possible to say that all approximately 500 flights will be canceled. The real impact will become clearer after the minimum services are determined and easyJet announces its operation plan.

Passengers with easyJet connecting flights to Lisboa, Porto or Faro on 2–6 October or 19–23 December will be advised to ensure that the contact information in their booking is up to date and to check flight status directly with the airline as travel approaches.
