CHEGA leader André Ventura announced that he could submit a motion of no confidence in the government if Interior Minister Luís Neves remained in office. As of August 31, the party announced that it will make its final decision on Tuesday, September 1.

CHEGA leader André Ventura said in a statement on August 28 that if Prime Minister Luís Montenegro did not dismiss Neves, his party would file a motion of no confidence in the government in the parliament. Ventura stated that he would announce the final decision on Tuesday, after meetings with the party management and MPs on August 31.

Luís Neves has been Minister of Internal Affairs since February 2026. In his statement to journalists in Madeira, the minister stated that he would talk about the issues discussed about him on Tuesday.
