The news coming from the Lisbon suburbs over the weekend is seriously thought-provoking. Just yesterday, while we were talking about four people being stabbed in an argument in a cafe in Sacavém, the wave of violence could not stop and this time the guns spoke. Four more people were shot in the area in just a few days; One of them is said to have suffered a head injury. According to Correio da Manhã, efforts are being made to clear the smoke behind the events, but the tension in the field is quite high.
Increasing Wave of Violence in Neighborhoods
Looking at the background of the events, in the first armed attack in Bairro do Talude Militar, one of the troubled areas of Loures, a 30-year-old man was injured in his leg and arm. The thought-provoking part is that he was taken to the hospital by his own friends and his condition remains serious.
Not long after, a similar incident took place, this time during a party held on Rua do Cabo Verde in the center of Lisbon. It is stated that the injured person, who was shot in the leg, was taken to the hospital in a vehicle other than an ambulance, and the police found a car with bullet marks on the same street.
Cova da Moura and Amadora Line
In the early hours of Sunday morning, the picture became a little clearer. Two young people, aged 23 and 26, were brought to Amadora-Sintra Hospital with bullet wounds in the head and back areas. It was announced that these people, who were shot during the busy hours in Cova da Moura, were not in life-threatening condition. Unfortunately, spots like Cova da Moura are often associated with such chaotic events. The increase in crime rates and security debates in and around the capital is a fact that is on everyone's lips in daily life.
