Black Friday spending intentions in Portugal rise to €369, survey finds
ECO — Black Friday temsili görsel

Consumers in Portugal are planning to spend more during the coming Black Friday promotions, according to a Netsonda survey commissioned by retailer Worten. The average intended budget is €369, €42 higher than in the previous year’s survey. That is a statement of planned spending, not a record of purchases already made.

Which products are in demand?

Some 88% of respondents said they intended to shop during Black Friday. Technology products led at 47%, followed by fashion and accessories and household appliances at 32% each, and books at 29%.

Nearly half, 48%, plan to use promotions to buy Christmas gifts early, nine percentage points more than last year. The findings describe stated intentions, not actual retail sales.

How to assess advertised discounts

Checking price history, comparing total checkout and delivery costs, and resisting unnecessary purchases are especially relevant for expensive electronics. A large advertised discount does not necessarily mean the best available price.

The fact that the survey was commissioned by Worten matters for context. It does not establish that every Portuguese consumer will spend €369; it measures the average intention among respondents.
