There is a video that is on the agenda that really hurts when watching it. This is an incident that happened at the door of Cascais Hospital and made you say "this is not possible".
A 90-year-old woman, unable to take a step, comes to her appointment at the hospital. The companion next to him finds a wheelchair from the emergency room and brings it to the parking lot in order to get the woman inside easily. Just then, one of the hospital staff comes out and says that they cannot use the chair and takes the chair back. Moreover, there were five wheelchairs sitting empty next to them.
The TVDE (private transfer) driver who brought the woman cannot remain indifferent when he sees the situation. When he realizes that the woman will miss her appointment due to the staff's pointless obstinacy in the procedure, he personally carries the 90-year-old aunt into the hospital.
The weirdest part is that when they entered, the driver was warned that "carrying the patient like this is not the right way." When the incident was reported in the press, the hospital management only said that "determined procedures were followed".
Fortunately, someone there recorded those moments and we were all able to see this unscrupulous bureaucracy and the beautiful humanity displayed by the young driver. We must give credit to that driver who did not let that old woman down even though it was not his duty. Sometimes you just need to be human instead of hiding behind the rules.
