Traveling to the Alentejo Coast Becomes Easier: Rede Expressos Opens New Stops

Rede Expressos, one of the first names that come to mind when it comes to intercity bus travel in Portugal, is gearing up, especially on the Alentejo Coast line, which has become more active recently. Keeping up with the touristic and economic activity on the coastline, the company decided to expand its transportation network in the region.

What's on the New Route?

The existing line between Lisbon and Sines is now much more functional. In addition to the Setúbal and Santo André route; Popular spots of recent years such as Comporta, Carvalhal, Melides and Alcácer do Sal are also included in the route.

This new regulation, which will become operational as of September 1, is actually the answer to a need that has been felt for a long time. According to the information shared by the company, in the first half of this year alone, demand between Lisbon Oriente and Sines has increased by almost 60% compared to last year. Both the demands from the people of the region and the calls of local governments made this move inevitable.

Why This Region?

To be frank, Comporta, Carvalhal and Melides have changed their shells in recent years. With real estate projects, tourism investments and construction activity, these regions are flooded with both local and foreign tourists. Of course, the working population is also increasing exponentially. Strengthening public transportation was a very appropriate step on this coastline, which is normally entirely dependent on individual vehicles. On the Alcácer do Sal side, increasing housing projects and the renovation of the bus terminal give the project a different dynamism.

Departure Times and Prices

There will be two daily flights from Lisbon to Sines:

Departures from Lisbon: 10:00 in the morning and 18:15 in the evening

Departures from Sines: 06:00 in the morning and 14:00 in the afternoon

Tickets are already on sale and ticket prices covering the new stops start from a very reasonable price of 2.95 euros. It is a good alternative, especially for those who want to avoid the expense of a personal car and have a more sustainable journey.
