Pordata Study: Portugal Records Highest House Price Inflation in EU Since 2020
RTP Economia / Agência Lusa

Portugal recorded the sharpest proportional increase in residential property prices across all 27 European Union member states between 2020 and 2026, according to comprehensive findings published by Pordata.

Longitudinal data published by statistical foundation Pordata revealed that Portugal's housing price index climbed by over 52% cumulatively between 2020 and 2026. This trajectory outstripped every other EU nation, including robust markets like Spain, Ireland, and the Netherlands.

The report underscored a severe divergence between asset prices and domestic earnings. With real wages growing by just 7% over the comparable six-year timeframe, the average time required for a middle-class Portuguese household to accumulate a down payment has reached unprecedented historical highs.

This report was compiled and verified using official data from Pordata and Agência Lusa.
