Twelve arrested in drug-trafficking operation in Lamego and Tarouca

The GNR arrested 12 people on suspicion of drug trafficking in Lamego and Tarouca, in northern Viseu district, on 21 October. Its statement specifies eight men and four women arrested, with another man, aged 60, formally designated a suspect.

The investigation began in August 2025. Officers executed 12 arrest warrants and 26 search warrants covering homes, vehicles, a commercial premises and a storage building.

The GNR reported seizures including heroin, cocaine, cannabis, a firearm, ammunition, phones, vehicles and €1,950 in cash.

The operation involved support from other GNR units and the PSP. The report does not announce convictions or confirm remand measures.

The distinction in the detailed police statement matters: the 12 arrests and the separate designation of another person as an arguido are different procedural acts. Assessment of the allegations remains a matter for the judicial authorities.
