President António José Seguro has invited parties represented in parliament to individual meetings on social cohesion on 29 October. A presidential source told Lusa that the invitations were issued on 21 October.

The talks at Belém Palace will take place after the 27–28 October debate and vote on the general principles of the 2027 budget. The schedule brings budget politics and discussions of social problems into the same week.

Seguro has previously raised concerns about social and territorial inequality. This round provides for separate meetings with the parliamentary parties.

Amid the housing protests, the president has called on the government and opposition to find broad agreement on urgent measures and longer-term responses.

The 29 October meetings have not yet taken place. The invitation does not establish an agreement on a housing package or approval of new social-benefit rules; any outcome will need to be announced separately.
