The parliamentary inquiry into Luís Neves’s periods leading the Polícia Judiciária will use a restricted room for sensitive documents. Committee chair André Ventura announced the arrangement after a methodology meeting on 21 October.

Ventura said procedures for access, recording consultations and protecting material were still being examined. The stated purpose is to safeguard confidential information relating to a criminal-investigation institution.

He pointed to a similar arrangement in the TAP inquiry. The announcement does not say every document or all committee activity will automatically be closed to the public.

Whether the inquiry continues working during budget proceedings is to be considered at a subsequent meeting. Deadlines for witness and document requests have also yet to be settled.

This development concerns procedures for parliamentary scrutiny. It does not announce a conviction, criminal indictment or finding that a particular document proves wrongdoing by Neves.
