Cyberattack disrupts Ovar council services through 21 October

Ovar council says its IT systems were left inoperative by a cyberattack over the weekend. According to its 18 October announcement, many public-facing services will remain closed through Wednesday, 21 October, inclusive. Online services and ECOLINHA will also be unavailable.
Which services are affected?
The closure list includes general customer services, planning, Ecocentro, veterinary services, BUPi, the arts centre, museums and the arts and crafts school. Espaço Cidadão, the municipal market, swimming pool, cemetery, library and enterprise space are expected to remain open. The SIGA education platform and planning information line are also continuing to operate.
Administrative deadlines to be suspended
The council said it would suspend deadlines in ongoing administrative procedures to prevent residents being disadvantaged. Technical teams are working on containment, impact assessment and recovery. Applicants should follow further municipal announcements about service availability. The statement does not identify the attackers or establish whether personal information has been disclosed outside the council's systems.
